Too Complex for Science

There is something very encouraging about the fact that gene study has yet to explain a lot of human behavior. The reason it is encouraging is because it means we humans have a duty to understand ourselves and the world using our common sense. We can't just leave it up to the experts.

It just seems like some things may be too complex for science. One of those things is economic development. Which is why the World Bank can't really get it straight. Economics in general is more of an art than a science, despite the emphasis on mathematics in the curriculum. Apparently, Greenspan attests to this in his book when he talks about looking at the data and taking a guess at what was going on in the economy.

To me an expert is someone who knows how to observe and think not someone who has information.
