Out of Harm's Way

He came over her
In a split second
From calm to tsunami
Like a 50 ft wave
Hovering above her
She stopped being human
became an ant
paralyzed before
his monstrous power
she wanted to diffuse his force
but did not know how
she was gone
already dead
as the wave overtook her

she awoke in the water
the crystal blue
reflected sunlight
into her eyes
white light surrounded her
the water gave sensation to her body

she laid her head back
in the water
and felt the sun
on her face
she cared not where she was
time had left with the wave
her life was but a mere thing
having lost it and gained it so
she preferred to immerse
herself in the water and sun
unconcerned of her whereabouts

she woke on an island
an 850 sq ft island
she stayed for years
when they found her
and took her to the city
she walked down escalators
and rode elevators
still on her island
with hundreds of miles of water
between her
and the rest of the world

then one day
she walked off her island
and swam away from
it
on to the concrete sidewalk
of the city
on to the bench of the park
people sat next to her
people said hello
people called out to her
people were everywhere
and she listened
and walked with them
and she left life pull her
in a wagon
that she laid inside of
on her back
staring at the big full clouds
and the light blue sky
she was where she always
wanted to be
staring at the sunny day clouds
her body released
