Were in spasm against the wind
From the fan
The temperature outside
Was above comfortable
And below death
Summer was maturing
It was quiet
Friends woke
Slept
Started and ended meals
In different time zones
Hearts stayed close
As distances increased

Crises happened
but jokes released pressure
Little risks of the heart
Were taken
As large wars were fought
Worlds evolved as
Towns stayed the same
It was all ahead of us
we only tried
to sense it
as it happened
though we often failed
